Installation was a lot of fun. My husband Tom was installed as the Worthy Patron to be my helper/advisor in the East. We were so honored that Rita Bucholtz, PGM, and her husband, Harvey, were there to preside because she introduced me to Star and presided when I was initiated in 2004! It was a happy day to share with all my sisters & brothers. Thanks to the many of them who are serving as officers this year!

We were very pleased that Mr. Bob Rhine came dressed as his medieval persona to talk to us about the medieval concept of Chivalry. We learned that Chivalry grew to be a personal code of ethics. Medieval knights were expected to be a well-rounded person as well as a fighter. They could dance and play chess and should have high moral character. Each knight taught those who served with him the ideals that he valued...thus it was not a codified set of rules throughout the world.

For a "mere" $25 per couple, we served a 4-course medieval themed dinner to raise money for our benevolent fund.
The first course was bread and a salad based on Platina's Herb salat. Honeyed and herbed butters were a hit. The second course was lemon chicken. The third course was roasted pork. For dessert, there was ricotta torte.
Thanks to the generous support of the chapter and our dinner guests, we raised just short of $400!!

In the 21st Century, Constanza is actually Karen Park. Karen was the Worthy Matron of Fountain Valley #155 this year (2010), and as WM,got to select a theme for the year. So, for 2010, we explored...
Chivalry Through the Ages
For me it was fun to combine two of my favorite activities. I hope that along the way, my sisters and brothers learned a thing or two that they didn't know about the Middle Ages. Many of the meetings had themes based on the chivalric virtues as set forth by the Duke of Burgundy, and I tried to choose an honor group for those nights that emulate that virtue.
I stepped down as of September 3, 2011. My time in the East came to an end, and I handed the gavel over to someone else. I wish all the best for those men and women who take on the mantle of leadership year after year.
